Born in 1924, David, went on to study English at Magdalen College, Oxford before becoming a full time artist and actor, studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris. This in turn led him to a two-decade long tenure as a tutor at the Royal Academy Schools. David's most famous acting role was arguably in the 2005 Tim Burton remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he played Grandpa George.
With a successful career including exhibiting work at the Royal Academy and Royal Society of Portrait Painters, David died in 2007 aged eighty three.
