Jean Dufour was Belgian painter born in Ixelles, a suburb of Brussels, in 1903, dying in Bosvoorde in 1985. Trained at the Academy in Brussels under Constant Montald, he specialised in landscapes, particularly winter landscapes, still lifes and marine scenes. He is known to have painted extensively in Flanders, northern France and Kempen Germany.
This painting was exhibited at the Galleries des Beaux Arts in Marcinelle, a suburb of Charleroi, in August 1990, where it was offered for sale for 17,000.00 frs, label verso
