Paul Roche by Duncan Grant

Signed, "To Willy & Andy, love from Duncan". Dated (19)46.
This was painted during the first year of meeting, between Duncan and Paul. Paul was to become an influential poet and novelist, and both were to form a later-in-life enduring relationship, with Paul supporting Duncan through to his death, at Paul's home, in 1978. Paul died in 2007. 
The "willy" in the dedication is William de Belleroc, who would often visit Duncan at his home in Sussex.
