A painting of Thelma Bader (1907 - 1971) the wife of Wing-Commander Douglas Bader, D.S.O., D.F.C.,
Painted in 1942, astonishingly at the same time as Wing Commander Bader, the famed and inspirational RAF fighter pilot, had been captured and held prisoner by the Germans in occupied mainland Europe.
The painting was used in May 1942 as the front cover to Woman's Journal magazine (copy illustrated)
A truly beautiful portrait painted at the height of the artist's popularity.
